LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - In an effort to help curb food insecurity and connect with the community, the Lufkin Salvation Army held its annual Thanksgiving meal, providing a free lunch for over 300 people in Angelina County.

On Wednesday, the Salvation Army held its annual Thanksgiving luncheon, providing free meals to families and food boxes for people in the community.

The meal was served restaurant-style, to help bring families together and also provide a service for people attending that they might not have received otherwise.

“We want to be there for people not just for this one need, but to develop a relationship with them so they know they’re not alone,” Captain Cavon Phillips said.
