Firefighters are still battling the blaze into its second day, struggling to control the fire that has so far killed at least 44 people.

New photographs have revealed the true devastation of a fire that has ravaged a housing estate in Hong Kong, with the blaze now burning into its second day as firefighters struggle to get the blaze under control.

A total of 44 people have been killed and 279 are missing, as per last available figures.

Chief Executive of Hong Kong John Lee Ka-chiu confirmed to AP that about 900 people were evacuated from the Tai Po neighbourhood to temporary shelters overnight. One firefighter was among the 44 killed . Officials also confirmed a further 62 people have been injured so far, with many suffering from burn and inhalation injuries.
