A man has been banned from driving after failing a roadside eye examination in Coventry . He was stopped in the city yesterday (November 26).

Police conducted a Multi-Agency Road Safety Operation (MARSO) as part of Operation Advance. Officers pulled over a taxi driver in his 70s.

He stood 20 metres away from a number plate and tried to read it but failed. Officers informed the DVLA, and his driving licence was revoked.

A spokesman for Coventry Police said: “Did you know a police officer can stop you while you are driving and ask to check your eyesight?
