Police are investigating an attack on a teenage boy in Coventry . It happened in Barras Heath Park on Mercer Avenue.

Officers were alerted to reports that a group had assaulted a boy and attempted to steal his phone around 3pm yesterday (November 27). But their attempt failed, and the group quickly fled.

It is believed the boy sustained minor injuries. Witnesses have been urged to contact West Midlands Police .

Anyone with information should call 101. Details can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We are investigating after a teenage boy was assaulted in Mercer Avenue, Coventry . Shortly after 3pm on November 27, the boy was assaulted by a group who tried to steal his phone.

“But they were unsuccessful and left the area.
