A father and son were arrested Tuesday and charged with multiple drug and weapons-related crimes in Hamilton Township in Mercer County, police said.

Following a lengthy investigation, officers from the Hamilton Township Police executed multiple search warrants which led to the arrests of Matthew Eckel, 50, and his son, 22-year-old Kyle Eckel, according to a statement from the department.

The Eckels both live on Independence Avenue in town, investigators said.

Matthew was charged with possession with the intent to distribute psilocybin mushrooms, possession with the intent to distribute narcotics in a school zone and two weapons-related offenses, authorities said.
