Brian Ackroyd lost his balance and fell backwards into a crevice on the first day of his holiday to Croatia
A grandad left unable to walk after a horror fall in Croatia is due to start the 30-hour journey home for ongoing treatment. Brian Ackroyd has been hospitalised in Dubrovnik for the past month with severe injuries, including a fractured skull and a broken C2 vertebra.
The 65 year old, from Leyland, also suffered nerve damage and three brain bleeds after a horror fall in Cavtat on the first day of his holiday. After several days in intensive care, the dad-of-three remains on the neurology ward at Dubrovnik General Hospital.
His family launched an urgent fundraiser to bring him home after an insurance oversight resulted in his claim being rejected.
