A serial shoplifter from Medway who was banned by the courts from entering any shop with a bag has been jailed after shoplifting from a supermarket. Ryan Heathcote, 38, of Centenary Gardens in Gillingham, has been jailed for nine-and-a-half months after breaching a criminal behaviour order imposed at Medway Magistrates' Court in August with a previous conviction.

One of the order's conditions was that Heathcote must not go into "any retail premises with a bag". But, on Saturday, November 8, he went into Co-op in Twydall Green.

"He walked through the shop, placing items in the carrier before leaving without attempting to pay. Security stopped him and the items were recovered," said a Kent Police spokesperson.
