The Tennessee Highway Safety Office is encouraging drivers to “Plan Smart, Ride Free, Arrive Safe” as it rolls out its Safe Ride Tennessee program for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The initiative offers would-be impaired drivers a safe way home during high-risk times, aiming to reduce traffic fatalities and protect Tennesseans on the road. The program provides up to $15 off an Uber or Lyft ride, with users covering any remaining balance.

Rides must start or end in Nashville, Chattanooga, Knoxville, or Memphis, and credits can only be redeemed between 5:00pm and 3:00am. Officials note that rides cannot be scheduled in advance and are available on a first-come, first-served basis, resetting daily.
