A record 6,500+ people made the Grateful Gobbler trek through Coolidge Park Thanksgiving morning, raising about $350,000 for the Maclellan Center.
"That’s Chattanooga," said Stan McCright, who's co-chaired the event for over a decade. "Chattanooga is a tremendously, just gracious community. When they find a cause, they embrace it, and they invest in it."
About a thousand people participated for the first time.
McCright started volunteering for the Trot when it started in 1999 and said he deeply believes in the center's mission of keeping families experiencing homelessness together.
"It’s an opportunity for a family to teach their children that you can do good things for your community, and you can have fun doing it," he said.
