The Scottish Government has been forced to clarify remarks by John Swinney after the First Minister appeared to promise guaranteed job interviews for Mossmorran workers.

The confusion at First Minister’s Questions came when Scottish Greens co-leader Ross Greer asked if staff at the Fife site would get the same support as workers at Grangemouth.

Despite the SNP leader’s initial affirmation, the Scottish Government later confirmed that he had misspoken.

Mr Greer said he was “disappointed” by the news.
