MADISON (WKOW) — A community fridge outside Christ Presbyterian Church has become a vital resource for residents over the last five years.
It began in a neighbor's yard at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. After facing potential closure due to regulatory issues, the church stepped in to host the fridge in 2022.
The community fridge offers a place for people to donate fresh produce, non-perishable items, home-cooked meals, and more.
Doug Madsen, a volunteer, noticed the fridge was often empty and decided to make a change.
