Two men have been arrested, police say, in connection with the hate-motivated assault of a transgender person on Oct. 25.

The assault happened at Hess Village on Hess Street S. The victim and their friends were leaving a bar when they were "involved in an incident with a group of people."

The friends left, but the victim was "viciously attacked" by a group of men who used "transphobic slurs," police said.

A 23-year-old Hamilton man and a 21-year-old Hamilton man were each charged with "assault causing bodily harm."

They were identified as the "primary aggressors" and police asked the public for assistance in finding them.
