Border Patrol agents with the Wellton Station arrested a previously deported felon who allegedly illegally reentered the United States east of Yuma, according to information released this week by the Yuma Sector.

Agents identified the man as Pedro Alvarez Marcelino, 36, a Mexican national who was previously removed from the country following a conviction for distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl. He was sentenced to 51 months in federal prison before being deported.

According to the agency, Alvarez Marcelino was taken into custody after crossing through the Sonoran Desert east of Yuma. He now faces additional federal charges for illegal reentry, which is a felony offense that can result in up to several years in prison.
