The Department of Homeland Security has identified the suspect in the shooting of two National Guardsmen as Rahmanullah Lakanwal.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro identified the victims of the shooting as 24-year-old Andrew Wolfe and 20-year-old Sarah Beckstrom. Both were sworn into service less than 24 hours before the shooting.

Lakanwal is an Afghan national who came to the U.S. in 2021 under Operation Allies Welcome. He served alongside U.S. troops in Special Forces.

Pirro said Lakanwal currently faces "three counts of assault with intent to kill while armed" and "possession of a firearm during a crime of violence."

His motives remain unknown.
