LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Many people are celebrating Thanksgiving by giving back to the community.
This year, hundreds of people signed up to volunteer at Wayside Christian Mission. The earliest shift people could work started around 4 a.m. Thursday.
“It’s just a wonderful feeling to see all of these people who give up their holidays and make sure that our homeless guests have a great holiday,” Wayside’s Chief Operation Officer Nina Moseley said.
Wayside started a tradition of providing breakfast, lunch and dinner decades ago. Lora and Paige Edelen are part of the early crew, who are working to make sure those without homes, are not without meals.
