Recent rains have improved Missouri’s drought picture.

This week’s U.S. Drought Monitor map shows 75% of the state as abnormally dry or in some level of drought. That compares to 93% a week ago.

Several counties in southwest and south-central Missouri remain in severe drought. A large part of central Missouri is now drought free.

Counties south of St. Louis to the Missouri Bootheel have also benefitted from rain, that area is now drought-free. There’s also been improvement in a handful of counties in far northwest and far southwest Missouri.
