Eight Romanian nationals were trafficked to the UK and promised food, accommodation and a job with a fair wage.

Instead, the victims - including a 15-year-old boy - were deprived of basic human rights, forced to work in Hewa Margai's car wash and housed in a small shed on-site.

The eight victims, who were brought over between November and December 2020, were also routinely subjected to physical, mental and psychological abuse.

Their situation deteriorated further during the Covid-19 lockdown, as they were confined to the car wash premises, with no access to their travel documents.
