Many Boston Red Sox fans must have raised their eyebrows when news hit on Wednesday night that Dylan Cease is now a member of the Toronto Blue Jays .

Almost as soon as the Cease news emerged, however, so did a narrative that Toronto had just given Cease way too rich of a deal. Not surprisingly, this has already become a wildly popular storyline amongst Red Sox fans, who have a very convenient argument when comparing Cease’s $210 million contract over seven years with Garrett Crochet’s $170 million over six years.
