PORT ARTHUR, Texas — A Southeast Texas organization led by the Smith Family and friends provided hot Thanksgiving meals to dozens of residents Thursday, marking more than a decade of service to the area.

Lots of Love crew, consisting of family members and friends, held its 12th annual distribution at 10th Street and Savannah Avenue in Port Arthur.

Organizers said they fed between 75 and 100 people. Those who attended the event received clothing in addition to prepared meals.

The Smith Family said the recent government shutdown and ongoing economic difficulties created greater demand for assistance this year.
