News spread of Nebraska’s first aviator, Charles Baysdorfer, with an article published in the Omaha World-Herald on Nov. 27, 1910.

Baysdorfer and his brothers designed their own plane based on the work of Glenn Curtiss, a rival of the Wright Brothers.

With that feat, Charles Baysdorfer became the first Nebraska pilot and the first to fly a plane built in Nebraska.
