The closure of the arena in St. Pierre will not last as long as had been originally anticipated.

In late October, the Village of St. Pierre announced that, due to "urgent structural repairs" that were needed, the arena would not open until the new year. However, Mayor Raymond Maynard now says they are targeting December 6th for the reopening.

Maynard explains that the village is making plans for a new arena complex. Though this could still be a few years away, Maynard says they have already started the process. Part of that plan involved bringing in engineers to check the existing building to ensure that everything is okay.
