Taking care of 20 alpacas is easy work, said Anne Stallcup. The South American cousin of the camel is clean, low-maintenance and so easy tempered she calls them therapeutic.

Operating a small business is a different story.

“Especially when you've got, you know, Jeff Bezos to deal with,” she said.

Stallcup’s Que Sera Alpacas ranch and Ghilie Dhu Ranch, whose 30 combined alpacas share grazing property in Eldorado, will be holding an event this weekend in celebration of Small Business Saturday.

“The main attraction,” said Stallcup, operator and sole proprietor of Que Sera, is the alpacas themselves and the walks attendees can accompany them on. There will be wool-weaving demonstrations and sales from local fiber artisans — including wares utilizing the infamously soft alpaca wool.
