Ask Lindsay Davies to show you her Google Maps page of trails she has hiked — and hopes to hike — in Ontario and you’ll find a cluster of pins blotting out the province.

“It’s a constellation of ridiculousness. My friends laugh at me all the time because I just have so many,” she said.

That ridiculousness, however, has paid off for the travel blogger and explorer. Her first book, “Greenbelt Trails: The 36 Best — West of Toronto, from Oakville and Hamilton to Niagara and Beyond,” came out in September.

It was her blog, IveBeenBit.ca , that caught the attention of an editor at Toronto-based James Lorimer & Co. Ltd., Publishers , who reached out to the Niagara-born writer in March 2024.

It was her writing style — her voice — that the editor liked.
