BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - Not all students get to head home for the holidays, but Virginia Tech made sure they still got a taste of Thanksgiving.
This year marked the fourth Thanksgiving lunch organized by College of Science Dean Kevin Pitts and the first time the event was open to all students on campus. Pitts said what started as a small gathering has quickly become one of the university’s strongest holiday traditions.
“Our first year here, we did an event that was rather small for about 50 students,” Pitts said. “And each year since now, this is our fourth year, it’s grown to what this year will be roughly 600 students.”
Students lined up for all the traditional holiday favorites: turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans and plenty of pies. But for many, the real comfort came from
