GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WKYT) - Georgetown police officers traded turkey and family time for uniforms this Thanksgiving, working to ensure the community could celebrate safely.
For officers on duty, ‘thankful’ has an extra meaning that it does for some other families.
“I’m thankful for just the camaraderie that we do, because it’s like having a second family,” said Nikk Gillespie, Georgetown Police Officer.
Officers Billy Welch and Tyler Larue agreed.
That brotherhood becomes essential when emergencies interrupt the holiday. Domestic disturbance and cooking fire calls can increase on a day like Thanksgiving.
