SOMERSET, Pa. – A senior district judge from Fayette County will preside over a preliminary hearing on a corruption of minors charge against Somerset County Sheriff Dustin Weir.
The move to assign an out-of-county judge to oversee the Dec. 8 hearing enables Somerset County court officials to avoid any potential conflict-of-interest concerns, given that the sheriff's office is tasked with protecting county courtrooms, Somerset County's own judges included, during legal proceedings. ×
