CLINTON, Maine (WABI) - The hit and run driver involved in a fatal U-Haul Van crash on I-95 Tuesday was located and arrested Thursday.
State Police arrested 31-year-old Tyler Hewitt, of Presque Isle, after they received a call of a suspicious person walking on Hill Road around 2 p.m.
Clinton officers say they located Hewitt hiding in the woods near I-95.
We’re told Hewitt was driving on a suspended license during the time of the crash that killed 38-year-old John Perkins, of Hampden.
Hewitt fled the scene of the crash before troopers arrived.
When officers located him Thursday, they tell us they found a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine in his possession.
