AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Cafe 209 and local community groups held their annual Feast in the Streets giveaway, providing hot meals and essential items to community members.

The event offered more than food. Local groups distributed winter gear and other essential items to attendees.

“It keeps me from sitting in the house by myself,” one attendee said.

Another participant said they made sure not to miss this year’s event. “I missed it last year. When I came, they were just closing out. I was like dang, but I ain’t gonna miss it this year.”

Community partnership expands reach

Cassandra Brinson, owner of Cafe 209 and founder of Feast in the Streets, said the restaurant serves the community without restrictions.
