A charming hotel in the Kent countryside that previous guests have called “impeccable” has been named among the nation’s 25 best. As the year draws to a close, the annual Top 50 Boutique Hotels list has been revealed - and two true Kent gems have made the cut.

Among our county’s entrants, it was Updown Farmhouse - just outside Deal - that ranked the highest, placing in the top half of the list in the number 21 spot. Nestled within a cosy 17th century former farmstead, the property has been lovingly revived and repurposed, alongside the Fig Tree Cottage, Gardener’s Cottage and the Stables, to provide 10 luxury rooms.
