SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - This Thanksgiving, one Siouxland family is extra thankful, this year, for the act of adoption.
“Every child’s journey is unique, teaches you so much,” said Heather Hendrix, an adoptive parent in Sioux City.
Heather Hendrix began caring for a little girl named Olivia in 2018, hoping to help give her a second chance.
“I’ve known Heather for quite a long time. She started off in our mentor program that Four Oaks provides for new foster and adoptive families,” said Emma Kroll, a recruitment and retention coordinator, Four Oaks Foster Care and Adoption. “Met Heather through there, she was working with Olivia, and had Olivia in her care.”
After fostering Olivia for a few months, she knew she had to make her a part of her family.
