FRESNO, Calif. -- A man is in the hospital after being shot in the back of the head on Thursday night.

The Fresno Police Department says they received a call about a shooting around 8:15 p.m. on South Tupman Street in Southwest Fresno.

When officers arrived on scene, they found the 40-year-old victim in his car.

Authorities say the victim is an Uber driver who was just doing his job picking up a passenger when an altercation happened before he was shot.

The man is in the hospital in critical condition, but was able to communicate a few words to officers about what happened.

No suspect information has been released at this time.

Police believe the shooting was an isolated incident and are investigating.
