On the most recent instalment of BBC Breakfast, hosts Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty , who recently shared heartbreaking news on the show, looked back at the cherished 1980s television programme Blind Date.

This weekend marks four decades since the dating programme's inaugural broadcast, which was presented by the late Cilla Black.

The show initially launched in 1985 and wrapped up in 2003, though it made a comeback in 2017 with Paul O'Grady at the helm until 2019.

Throughout the programme's run, numerous participants found their perfect match and carried on their romantic tales beyond the studio, including married duo Alex and Sue Tatham
