The Race Across The World contestant Sam Gardiner tragically died in a car crash in May this year.

In 2020, BBC viewers saw Sam Gardiner participate in the popular TV show "Race Across The World" with his mum, Jo.

Although the pair didn't win the show, they stole the nation's hearts as they travelled across South America.

Tragically, it was announced in May this year that Sam had died in hospital following injuries from a car crash.

The 24-year-old had been driving on the A34 near Manchester before his vehicle left the road and rolled before coming to a stop on its side.

During an inquest into his death, the coroner found that 'insufficient' tyre tread depth, heavy rain and Sam's driving all contributed to the crash.
