SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Big box stores open their doors early Friday morning for Black Friday.

A record breaking near 187 million people will shop in person and online from yesterday through Monday.

Local small businesses also hope to see you for Small Business Saturday. Major retailers like JCPenney, Kohl’s, and Target at the University Mall in South Burlington are opening while it’s still dark out for the early birds.

It’ll be a less corporate, more localized scene on Saturday at small businesses across the state.

Small Business Saturday is considered one of the most important economic drivers of the year.

According to the US Small Business Administration, the day has generated over $220 billion since it began in 2010.
