The former Debenhams building in Middlesbrough is to go under the hammer next month, just one year after it was last sold.

The building on Newport Road is back on the market and has been listed for auction by Savills Auction with a guide price of £350,000.

The former department store, which is described as being in a "prime town centre location" by the auction house, has the potential for alternative uses subject to planning consent. It is also a freehold property.

The building is currently arranged for multi-level retail sales, and neighbouring businesses include Caffe Nero, Flannels, Specsavers and Tui.

Savills Auction said: "The property is arranged over six floors and was originally a hotel, becoming a department store in 1912. The property has many period construction features.
