Following a week of headlines regarding Labour's Budget (and the leaks it came with ), the government is making headlines again, and not for good reasons. In what appears to be another U-turn on their manifesto promises , the government is dropping some key elements of their Employment Rights Bill.
Instead of offering protection from unfair dismissal from their job on day one, it has now been changed to six months. Other new day-one rights, including sick pay and paternity leave, will still take effect in April 2026.
