A brave passer-by who put a stop to a violent sex attack and caught the attacker has been praised by police. Ian Hudson gouged a stranger's eyes, strangled her and bit her thumb while violently trying to rape her in a bus stop in Sunderland.
The 42-year-old had stalked the woman, who was in her 60s, through the streets late at night before pouncing on her when she stopped. Chronicle Live previously reported that the terrifying attack was only brought to an end when student Hamzah Albar walked past the scene and heard the victim's terrified screams.
The 24-year-old initially believed it was people larking around but the screams grew louder and he heard a woman shouting 'he'
