A 33-year-old man was shot in Alpena County early Thanksgiving morning after he was observed holding a firearm by Presque Isle County officers, according to a news release from Michigan State Police.
Deputies tried to initiate a traffic stop on a pickup truck in Rogers City at about 8:40 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 27.
The suspect behind the wheel was known to deputies as a wanted felon, according to the release. He fled the scene after being pulled over, and a vehicle pursuit was initiated.
The chase ended when the motorist's vehicle crashed into a ditch on M-65 near Leer Road in Long Rapids Township.
According to officials, when the suspect exited the car with his firearm, officers shot the suspect.
