HURON – Huron County OPP officials said they investigated nearly $1 million in losses from frauds and scams in the county between Aug. 30 and Oct. 31.
During that time period, police said they received nine reports of significant frauds all over the county. In eight of them, victims believed their money was being invested in the stock market and cryptocurrency, while one victim fell for a romance-type scam.

The recently reported frauds exceeded $943,000, including one case in South Huron where a 76-year-old resident lost $401,000 in September. In Central Huron, police said a 55-year-old resident lost $130,000 in August.
