Scotland is at an ‘economic crossroads’, Dr Liz Cameron has warned, as she delivered her final major address after more than two decades in charge of the Scottish Chambers of Commerce.

Speaking at the organisation’s annual dinner on Thursday night, the outgoing chief executive said the choices facing the country were “not political but generational”, urging ministers, businesses and communities to work as one.

Dr Cameron, one of Scottish business’s most influential voices for more than 21 years, also issued a stark warning about the funding crisis facing colleges and universities and the ongoing challenges around planning.

She highlighted infrastructure as a critical barrier to growth, warning that “without fast, reliable connectivity, Scotland cannot grow”.
