Arguably one of the best and inarguably one of the most influential high school football teams in Mississippi history is being honored through a new proclamation.

Jackson Mayor John Horhn declared Friday as “1975 Callaway High School Football Championship Day” for the 50th anniversary of the Chargers’ last state title.

“The 1975 Callaway Chargers showed what can be achieved through teamwork, discipline, and heart,” Horhn said. “Their success brought pride not only to Callaway High School but to the entire city of Jackson. Today, we honor their extraordinary talent and legacy that continue to inspire generations.”
