The Bruins made several moves ahead of their Black Friday matinee against the New York Rangers.

Boston added Casey Mittelstadt to the active roster, summoned Georgii Merkulov from Providence, placed Matej Blumel on long-term injured reserve and assigned Michael Callahan to Providence.

Mittelstadt last played Nov. 6 against the Ottawa Senators when he suffered a lower-body injury . He will be in the lineup on Saturday.

Blumel was injured in Boston’s final game of its four-game road trip against the New York Islanders. Coach Marco Sturm said after the Bruins’ win that the forward would miss a bit of time.

Merkulov has 14 points in 17 games for Providence this season. He has not played in the NHL this year, but has 10 games of NHL experience between the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons w
