The Met Office has predicted heavy rain and strong winds with gusts that could reach 60 to 70 mph
A yellow warning for rain is in place for much of central & southern England and Wales on Saturday. Coastal areas in the south could see these downpours combine with particularly strong gusts, while the eastern side of England may experience winds of 50 to 60 mph, or even higher in exposed spots.
With cold air in place, there is also the potential for sleet and snow over higher ground, especially around the South Pennines.
There will be a brief respite on Saturday night and into early Sunday, as a ridge of high pressure will build in behind, bringing a short-lived spell of quieter weather overnight.
