Cardiff Council has been heavily criticised over a damning report into itss housing repairs team.

Leader of the Liberal Democrats group at Cardiff Council, Cllr Rodney Berman, called the findings of the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales report, published in October, “horrendous” at a recent council scrutiny committee meeting.

It highlighted “serious service failures” in Cardiff Council ’s response to a case of damp and mould at a tenant’s property and found these failings had a “devastating impact” on the tenant and their family.

The tenant, referred to as Ms C in the ombudsman’s report, complained the council failed to respond to and act upon reports of leaks and extensive damp and mould at her rented property over a period of four years.
