Club staff say Turkey Day has become one of Maverick’s most meaningful traditions, returning after the pandemic and growing into a day focused on connection, family and access to resources many children do not have at home.

“For the kids, this day means something greater,” said Donna Soria, CEO of the Maverick Boys & Girls Club. “It tells them they matter. It tells them this community believes in them. We don’t just serve food — we build connection.”

Students spent November decorating the gym with gratitude projects. Soria said the event aims to give families something they may not always have time or space for at home.
