CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – The city of Charleston is shining a little brighter.

The city’s official tree lighting ceremony brought out a crowd to Slack Plaza on Friday night.

The tree lighting is part of Holly Jolly Brawley, a two-day event that transforms downtown Charleston into a winter wonderland with more than 160 decorated trees.

Friday’s ceremony also took up donations for West Virginia’s Children’s Home Society, who helps provide Christmas gifts for children in need.
