A pub landlord has warned that Government changes are placing massive financial pressure on small pubs, saying the latest policies will make it even harder for independent venues to survive.

Landlord of The Hog at Horsley, Luke Honeychurch, said many independent pubs across the country were already close to collapsing, and the recent Budget announcements may force even more to close their doors.

Posting to social media, Luke said a number of changes proposed by the Government would see rates dramatically rise.

The post said that while the minimum wage was rising, “tax thresholds remain the same,” meaning staff won’t actually see any benefit while the pub faces higher wage costs.
