PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland Fire & Rescue gave the all-clear after 400 people were evacuated after a gas leak at the Hollywood Theatre Saturday afternoon, according to the theatre.
Around 2:13 p.m., Portland Fire & Rescue crews were at the scene, with Northwest Natural enroute. Gas was shut off at the main meter, and all of the theater's occupants were evacuated to the north side of Sandy Boulevard. PF&R has not reported any injuries.
Crews as of 2:30 p.m. have halted the gas flow at the meter and ventilated the building. Currently, PF&R said its handheld monitors are indicating zero gas throughout all levels, including inside the boiler room.
PF&R said a building furnace had a flame failure, a mechanical issue allowing gas to flow into the space without being consumed for heat.
