LSU defensive coordinator Blake Baker’s unit didn’t have much to play for on Saturday in Norman .

The Tigers’ season had already gone off the rails. No College Football Playoff appearance. A new coach was on his way. All while being paired with an offense that had disappointed week after week.

LSU had little to play for against Oklahoma, facing a Sooners team that was a win away from clinching its spot in the CFP. And yet, it was LSU — and specifically, Baker’s defense — that played as if it was a single victory from making the playoff for most of Saturday’s game, not Oklahoma.

LSU received little help from its offense again, but three interceptions — the second of which set up LSU’s lone touchdown of the evening — were enough to nearly upset the Sooners in a 17-13 defeat.
