A person is dead following a shooting Saturday afternoon in Norwood, Massachusetts.

Police received a 911 call shortly before 2 p.m. requesting assistance to the area of 9 Hoyle Street, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office, and officers arrived on scene to find a male who had been shot.

The victim was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham where he was pronounced dead, officials said. His name is not being released at this time.
